Default National Forest Road and Trail MVUM Maps for Android

I just launched my first app, an Android app to use/display the National Forest Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUM) and your phone with your gps while you are offline. It combines the Road and Trail MVUM data into a seemless format (with other additional map features) that you can use offline on your Android phone. I would love to hear what you guys have to think.

You can view the maps/try out a demo at offroadatlas.org to see the coverage (it has most-but not all forests) and how it works etc.

Also here are some 1-time use links to download the app for free - they can each only be used once - so try the next one if the first doesn't work. If your interested, let me know and I can post a more.

Happy travels in the forest

This is a great idea. While I don't have any NF trips planned in the near future, I have a few friends who do. I will share this link with them. Are outputs compatible with Backcountry Navigator?

The output should be compatible with any app that uses maps in the rmaps (.sqlitedb) format. I am also working on having it compatible with the mbtiles format. I need to look more into Backcountry Navigator (and others) and compile a list of what apps it will work with. If you want to use one of the promo codes to try it out - and let me know if the map works with Backcountry for you - it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again everyone!

Yes, it does import. But it shows as a unique map, rather than layered on the topo maps. That is likely a BCN shortfall. Does it work in landscape mode? I tried on my phone, but couldn't get it to rotate. Regardless, this is an easy way to carry and view the MVUMs. The USFS should send you a thank you letter!

Thank you the support from the fellow jeep community has been awesome! I am trying it out with BCN myself as we speak. I will let you know if I make any progress on making it available as a layer (at some point in the future I will also release transparent tiles that will be ideal for use as a layer - though they will be in the 4x as large of file size range).

It should work in landscape mode. If you would PM what model of phone and version of Android you are using - that would help me tremendously in trying to diagnose why it isn't working for you.

I will be posting a few more promo codes to the facebook page shortly - let friends know! Thanks again!

I wouldn't rule it out - the support for the Android version has been amazing. I'll keep posting up a few promo codes to the facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Offroadatlas/) every so often. Keep an eye out! It would only work when you do have cell service - but the demo on the website (National Forest Road and Trail MVUM Maps for Android - Offline Motor Vehicle Use Maps for your phone by OFFROAD ATLAS) has a pretty fully functional demo that use can use on your iphone.

Doing some beta testing with Backcountry Navigator now. You can use OFFROAD ATLAS to download the Maps then use BCN to view them! Dead simple, use OFFROAD ATLAS to download the areas you need, then in BCN choose a "Prebuilt Map" and choose the offroadatlas/OffroadAtlas.sqlitedb map!
