mygig RER sirius issues
Greetings-
I just installed a RER system (bought new off ebay... MOPAR aftermarket version) in my 07 unlimited. Everything works except that I can't get the sirius to cooperate. When I go to the satellite radio screen I get the 1-800 number to order a new account (which I've done) with no options to adjust stations or frequency. I initially hooked it up with a coastaltech lockpick. After several adjustments and attempts, I disconnected the lockpick and have the same problem.... my sirius kungfu is no good. I have an appointment with the local dealership tomorrow... so we'll see what happens. I'm suspecting that I might have a bad antenna (really hopes it's not a faulty unit).
Has anyone else that has upgraded had similar problems trying to get the sirius to work?
Thanks....

Make sure the Jeep is outside and has a clear line of sight to the sky with no obstructions such as trees or buildings, etc. Call the 800 number again and have them resend the signal that activates the Satellite Receiver. You'll probably have to have the call running while this process takes place. I'm guessing up to 30 minutes. Hold off on the dealer visit until you try this and hopefully save yourself a visit and money out of pocket. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I tried all of that several times, several locations, including right next to my wife's sirius equipped Ford Flex.
Had the dealer appointment earlier, $100 and 3 hours later they don't know . They didn't even bench test the system against another sirius antenna to see if the antenna I had was bad, although they graciously offered to order the MOPAR one for me. The parts clown stated that it would only work with the "integrated" GPS, sirius, module. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe what he's referring to is the compass module (for those equipped). Does the sirius antenna affix under the dash panel/ on top of the unit like the GPS antenna does? Is this something that only applies to the compass equipped ones?
I thought that the top of the roll-bar area on the passenger side was the normal spot for the sirius antenna. I also thought that just about any sirius antenna would work, not a special required one from MOPAR.
The only other option I can think of is to purchase another sirius antenna for troubleshooting purposes... Any other thoughts?
Thanks

On mine, when the Sirius trial subscription ran out, it did the same thing. No sound and had the 800 number on the screen. Called up Sirius and activated the subscription, once the sent the signal it chaged to "updating Channels", then showed channel 184 and heard sound. After this it worked just fine. Sounds like all you need to do is activate the Sirius by getting them to resend the signal.

Thanks for those that replied. I swapped out the antenna (another NON MOPAR one) and low and behold, beautiful reception. Now I'm going to raise hell at the dealership to get my 100 bones back. Can't get back my 3 hours though.
What pisses me off about the whole deal is that I mentioned testing the antenna/ trying another one several times while I was talking to the tech. No joy. I would think that would be basic troubleshooting 101. No wonder Chrysler's in such dire straits
