PATA to SATA converter, Dongle
Depending on the HDD location in the HU. You may be able to find a PATA to SATA converter.
Tigerdirect may be a good place. Of course you would have to keep in mind that it is 2.5 in. and not 3.5 in.
In addition to the room allowed in the HDD cavity. Could we get a pic of that head unit space with and without the HDD installed?
SATA-Solid State is defineitely the way to go, though the lifetime expancies are not yet established, given the recent time frame they've been available.
One last thought, it might be possible to locate the drive outside of the unit and mount it elsewhere with the use of the dongle and cord of course.
