Default MyGig music storage

When you "record" a storebought disc to the harddrive is the music saved as an MP3?

Would it save space on the harddrive to record a disc to MP3 format on a computer then transfer it to the hardrive?

i don't think it converts it to MP3 when you copy it to the HD... i think it just a CDa or CDMA don't forget witch one.. but im pretty sure it does not convert it.

So I assume it would be better to change the audio into a smaller file size before putting the songs on the hard drive.

Anyone know?

Will you be able to put more music on the MyGig if you use MP3 files rather than copying a regular CD?

Seems like there is alot of discussion about drive space and this may be a way to efficiently use the space we have.

I would still like to be able to swap the stock drive for this 160G drive I have sitting here.

with other words the myGIG converts the songs on the CD's to Windows Media Player format.
