Default MyGIG microphone kit issue

In installed the MyGIG microphone kit from Costal Tech in my 2008 JK over a year ago. The phone hookup works great for incoming calls, but others have a very difficult time hearing me. The sound quality is very bad. It was never good, but now is so poor I have to shout at the microphone to have any chance of being understood.

Maybe the mic has gone bad (or always was bad). I see the mics are $20 now, so I guess I could try another one. But does anyone have a suggestion for a mic that works well?

Thanks in advance.

I have the mic from NAV-TV. I is expensive but the clarity in both directions is excellent. I think it cost around $90. Had the coastal tech mic and lockpick and got rid of both and bought the AllGig USB (better than Lockpick) and the mic. Google NAV-TV.

I have the Mopar mic and it seems to work pretty good. Been using it about a year now.

I have the original mic for the RER. The mic performance is great according to everyone I've talked to. Far better than any bluetooth or wired headset I have used previously with my Blackberry.

The mic is on the driver side windshield frame. About mid way between the roof and the dash.

I've got the coastal tech and it was small enough to place above the steering column between the turn signal stalk and the washer stalk - no wind noise here.

When a leave a memo to test the quality, it sounds great. Whenever I talk to anyone, the connection sucks. I even left a test voice mail for myself at work and thought it sounded like crap. Has anyone had any issues with just Bluetooth quality?

I installed the mopar mic about a month ago and it sounds terrible - it's very tinny. It's mounted on the steering column right behind the wheel.

I mounted the Mopar Mic and so far its pretty good. I have had no issues the person on the other end says they can here me fine. Kids in the back seat are heard fine too. Mic is located on the steering column as well.
