I don't think it would be a deterrent, because most thieves are dumb, but I've heard and don't know if it's true, that MyGig will disable itself if installed in another vehicle. Maybe this isn't the case, but it should work that way.

I thinks what would be neat is if somebody like Tuffy would make a cover for it. They could make something that replaces the top panel and wraps around with a removable or sliding front panel. Make it waterproof for those sneaky showers that catch you when the top is off. This would also be great for those dusty trails.

I hang a very manly scarf from my rearview mirror to cover it... maybe they won't break in if they don't know what it is...that said I'm getting an alarm upgrade with motion sensors this week just in case.

Bad idea. In my opinion, if somebody is going to get it, let them get it as easily as possible. You don't want them completely destroying your dash to get the head unit out. Plus, their yanking it will probably just leave it broken anyways.

If they want it... they'll get it. If they do get it, call the cops and your insurance company.

As I understand, if removed it will not work in another vehicle. Most stock systems have this now, that's why thieves mostly go for after market stereo's, plus they can usually hock them easier as they can't be tracked, stock systems have a serial # that can be traced back to your vehicle.

I've had it 2 months, no issues.

So the better question here, really is:

Has ANYONE HAD a MyGig theft or attempted theft yet?

Because I honestly haven't heard of one, though I have heard more than a handful of people say "It seems like a thief magnet..."
