Make sure you research what you want to do with the unit.
The features among them are all different.
I have a Pioneer Z2 in my F350, yes the Nav is better with mutliple screen views, but, you can not enter Geo Coordinates. IMO, absolutely worthless.
BUT, the way the HD library works is way better than the MYGIG in my jeep.
I am looking at the Kenwood or the new Z3 for the Jeep if the software improves, but for now the MYGIG is staying because I like being able to put LAT/LONGs in to get to the trail heads.
My 2 cents

For the user the hard drive is ONLY for songs. You can add a few small pictures to use as a "picture view" which is really useless. You can not add video to the harddrive. There are after market units with hard drives. There are aftermarket units with a knob for volume. Some aftermarket units have hands free and bluetooth which the MyGig DOES NOT HAVE in the JK without aftermarket addons. They also have aftermarket units that look nearly identical to the MyGig. Also if you have a manual there are problems getting a DVD to play. You need an aftermarket unit OR a firmware update that is not available yet. The MyGig doesn't show actual traffic flow info with it's traffic info...only congestion, but the new update should be fixing that. I think most of the problems of the MyGig could be fixed with software updates. You can't pause a song from the hardrive... not sure about a CD. There are a few little "quirks" people complain about.
I'm not trying to tell you what to get...I just want to tell you about what I know about the MyGig... I wish someone did that for me before I bought it.

Can you give examples of a unit with a hard drive , volume knob, etc.. I can play video from my ipod.. but I don't watch videos while driving anyway...

The D3 is a good unit. I like the way you can change the colors to match the interior colors, BUT you have to put a disk in to get the NAV. NO HDD to run the NAV. If you are just going to use an IPOD for the HDD then you can get the cable.
Buy the time you get all the options on the D3 the MY GIG can do, then price starts to become equal.
i.e. blutooth adapter, IPOD adapter, HD radio Aadpter, Sirius or XM radio Adaptor, connector to put into factory harness and rear camera setup. It satarts to ADD up.
Get a MYGIG for good price and get the Lockpick setup with mic and camera, you are looking about $2100-2300. and EVERYTHING works.
It all comes down to what you want the unit to do for you.

The reason nobody has stolen it is because it will only work in a small amount of vehicles unlike the Kenwood which is universal. Thieves only go for what they can sell easily. I posted the original comment because onother member was concerned about buying one and having it stolen. I'd wanted a MyGig from the beginning and went aftermarket because it wasn't available when I bought my Rubi in Oct of 06. I've always had aftermarket systems in all 12 of my previous Jeeps and the MyGig is the best I've used.
