My new JVC Unit...
The install of my new JVC KW-AVX820 is finished and I wanted to share some pics. Let me first THANK Vernnz and Clownhunter69 for all of their help! These guys are a tremendous asset to the forum and their advice made this install very easy.
I have NEVER installed a car stereo in my life and am very pleased with the outcome. I still have to hook up an amp, sub box and new speakers when the funds permit but for now Im really jazzed about this unit. It's a double din with built in bluetooth and ipod controls. I liked the fact that I didnt have to buy a separate bluetooth interface and the sound is actually really good. The face also detaches and has a neoprene storage case so you can pop this puppy out and keep prying eyes at bay.
Hooking up the sirius made me scratch my head a bit because I was trying to figure out a good place to install the components. After having no luck, I settled for the glove box. As you can see, I mounted the pieces on the inside of the box and drilled holes where appropriate to run the cables. There is a sirius cable that is quite long so I just bundled it up neatly and used electrical ties to hold it to on the rear of the glove box. Had to position the cable high up so as to allow the box to close.
The radio itself works very smoothly. The ipod interface is great...I just keep the ipod in the glove box and control everything from the headunit. It shows your playlists, artists, podcasts, videos etc. There really is no reason to touch the ipod. You do need a special cable to hook up the ipod but its well worth it. I chose to bypass the whole parking brake safety feature (I know, I know...it's not the right thing to do but I like the option). In any event, I was able to get this aspect going without a switch and it was quite simple.
Now for the pics...hope this works and I can upload them...if the photos are too small, they are posted in my gallery here on the forum.

So how did you get it to work with out the switch? I have the same head unit on order and will be installing next weekend if all my stuff makes it to me on time. First post for me but have been reading for a while. Just got my 09 unlimited sahara last week and am really excited to be doing some upgrades to the stereo. Thanks for any help youy could provide.

This pretty much explains it!
