Default Muting the Factory Audio System

A friend has just purchased a 4 door JK Wrangler and wants to add a Parrot Bluetooth system - does anyone know where the mute pins are on the factory audio system?

Don't know which head unit at this stage...

If it's got the AMP, does it have any pops or cracks when turning on and off?

If not, do you just kill the power to the head unit in the same way? Any problems with the CAN bus there?

Does anybody make any kind of module that can mute the radio through CAN, or is U-Connect the only bluetooth kit that will work properly?
