You can basically make the Z1 into a Z2 just with a software update and yes, I have the brake bypassed and use the VSS to give me a more accurate location and mind you, this pertains to the AVIC-Z1 i installed.

Hardware wise, I understand, it is the same. They updated the software and added some features that can also be added to the Z1 with an update disk.
