Default Metra Harness To Replace Factory Radio

Well, there's a part number assigned (XSVI-6522) for a harness, list price is $79.95. It sure will make installing an after mkt head easier......the saleswoman told me they expect it in 2-3 weeks. Here's hoping. Now I just have to hope there's a bypass for the new Pioneer AVIC-z2

Interesting to see on how they handle the brake, VSS connections.

Richard, did you ask her about that?

No I didn't,but I'll bet she doesn't know what I'm talking about. By the way, I wasn't aware that your Jeep doesn't have an amplifier....I thought they all did. Your installer swears there isn't one, and he says that if he wired it, I'd lose the subwoofer. I think in my situation, I have to run new speaker wires to the output side of the amp, which I think is under the steering column.

He is mistaken, they all have an amp, what I don't have is a subwoofer.

I knew I should have taken his bet. He says he never saw an amp.

have you verified that even the base single disc, 6 speaker, no sub system indeed has an amp in the dash?

if so, would you happen to have dimensions? i'm trying to figure out if i can fit an aftermarket amp in that space (i don't have my jeep yet). thanks

Now you got me thinking, it is supposed to be near the steering post. I will check when I get chance.

I saw in a thread on another board where he remove the stock amp and installed a larger amp in the back under the hatch next to where the subwoofer went.

What brake, VSS connections are you talking about? Are there other parts of the Jeep that are controlled through the radio? I'm wanting to replace my head unit and I'm just want ing to know what exactly I need. I was hoping it would be as easy as splicing into the factory harness for power. I would run all new speaker wire.

If you get a head unit that plays videos, you need to hook hook up the brake for the video to work (no driving while watching videos )

As for the rest, see here:
