Lockpick Installed!
Welp
I bit the bullet and bought a lockpick with a rear camera. It took me about 2 hours to do the whole thing.
Not bad really.
I attached the camera on my rockhard license place relocation kit (middle of rear tire) on the bottom of the plate. Works really nicely.
Ill post pics tomorrow (dark now) but sufficed to say that I am really impressed with the thing. Easy to install and mount, does a nice job of seeing whats behind me.
Not sure if ill keep the backup line function but im certainly considering adding a front camera for offroad as well.
Nice design.

cool. I'm jealous.
I totally want a backup camera (I have a habit of backing over things, no people ... yet) but since I don't have nav, and don' care to watch DVDs while I drive, I can't justify the expense if the lockpick won't do anything else. :(

I used google shopping and found it at a good discount. Ordered it with the multimedia cable and license plate camera for a very good price - about 1/3 off list. Plus the people there were all very friendly and helpful. I don't know if forum rules permit me to post the site.

In anycase, here is where i put the camera. I think im gonna order a front one too.

Did you got the Lockpick V3 with the USB connector? If so, does the Lockpick mount someplace to where the USB connection is readily accessible or do they provide a cable that allows you to jack into it without having to rip the dash apart to upgrade?

Hey
Yah i did.
The little box for the lockpick has a long enuff cord that goes from the radio that you can mount it to the left and behind the glovebox. I just got some velcro and put it back there

Cool beans. Thanks for the info! I was leaning towards the Allgig because it had the USB port for upgrading, but then saw that the Lockpick V3 now has a USB also. Ordered one earlier today from ebay that's supposed to be V3. Crossing my fingers!

I got my Lockpick and rear view camera and installed this weekend. I also got the Bracketron dash mounting bracket and adjustable holder for my iPhone. All total, it took me about 4 hours to install, but I could have cut that in half if I wasn't so anal about doing a perfect install.
Note: If you get the rear view camera, note that the connectors are different on the camera end versus the lockpick end. I didn't notice this and after running the cable, zip-tying it down and re-installing the trim I went to plug in the power jack and discovered I had the ends reversed. Wasted at least an hour straightening this out.
I also didn't like the way the camera mounted at the top of the license plate holder, under the license plate light. I thought that the light shining on the camera lense would cause glare. So I took it apart, used a Dremel to mill-out the bottom lip, turned the mount upside down and attached to the lower screw holes on the license plate instead of the upper. This works fine, except the range indicators don't work because of the camera angle. I might try flipping it back over as a test later.
Now I just need to figure out what to do for a rear-seat display. I don't want to cut-up my OEM headreasts to install LCD panels, but all the aftermarket headrests with panels pre-installed seem to be leather, which would look silly on my fabric seats. I also don't want to spend a fortune, because I still need to get a lift, bumpers and a winch. Any suggestions?
