Default LED testing question for 50" light bar.

I ordered a 50" LED light bar and all the parts to install it. The switch and relay are a few days behind the bar. I got the mounts put on and the light installed without much trouble, its just not wired up yet. I decided to test it out by using a marine battery I had sitting on the charger. I installed a ring terminal on each end of the wire and hooked it to the battery; nothing. No light, no flicker, no flash, nothing.

Thought maybe the battery was dead, tested it and its good. Tried a couple of other 12v items I found lying in the garage and they all worked on the battery..

Am I missing something or did I get a bad light? Does it have to have the relay installed for it to power up?

Try to just touch the wires tour jeeps battery. It should light right up. I test every light like that before I mount. Hope it's just that battery for some reason and it lights when u touch it to jeeps battery.

That sux, sorry.... My 50" had condensation in it and sending it back would have cost me 150, which is ridiculous but I didn't buy from a dealer (sorta lol) so I got no warranty. I was able to fix the condensation problem but I hope ur not in the same boat as me and you bought urs from a dealer and have warranties. Best of luck.

Can't hurt to try and hook the relay up, I HIGHLY doubt that it will make it work but, you never know. Definitely email them and get the ball rolling tho

Did you try the wires both ways? Some LEDs I have the black is positive and the red/ white is negative.

The relay won't send any more power than hooked directly to the battery. I agree on switching wires, it is a diode after all so the power won't flow the wrong direction.

Yea like I said I highly doubt it will change it, but but switching wires is a better idea! I didn't even think of that with the light bar, I knew to flip them with the cheap replacement bulbs but never thought about that with the light bar. Good idea!

I tried it both ways, black to black and black to red. Still nothing. I bought it from eautogrilles on ebay. I have sent them an email and waiting for a response now. I was really impressed with the fit and finish of the light, wiring and mounts. Unfortunate that it didn't actually light up!

Sorry to hear about the issues. We have a few 50s in stock, let me know if your original vendor doesn't pan out.

BTW... I absolutely love the color combo you've got going on, the seats look fantastic

Problem solved! Turns out the ground wire inside the light was not connected at the factory, the shop that was working on a few other items for me figured it out.. Works great they said! They also said there was a slight bow in the light, like maybe it was damaged in shipping or was returned by another customer after having been dropped. They took the lens off, bent it back level and reassembled it.. Still cheaper than shipping it back..
