I just looked up the ProCal and it only works on Jeeps up to 2015, do you know of a way to turn off the DRLs? Maybe with an OBD? If you can turn off the DRLs I can take some pictures of how I wired mine up = white ring is on always while jeep running (works like DRL but 12V), ring turns orange and flashes when turn signal turned on.

Default DRLs

Hi, I guess I am confused at what the issue is, why wouldn't the outside halo ring just be on all the time for your DRL's? I am in Michigan, but my Jeep is from Canada and I am about to order some headlights and I was hoping for a simple plug and play with the lights, adapter, and anti flicker piece. Or is it that the ring isn't allowed as a substitute for DRL in Canada?

Hi Scott, in Canada daytime running lights are mandatory and manufactures made the head lights come on at 6v for daytime running and 12v when you turn them on at night. The 6v is not strong enough to run led lights so they flicker. Halo ring lights have a separate cable that runs the halo ring not just plug and play. The main light is plug and play except daytime main lights will flicker unless you use something like a pro cal to turn off the daytime running lights. What year is your jeep?

It is a 2013. Still flicker even with the anti-flicker harness?

Yes I believe it will still flicker unless they have changed these types of lights since doing mine. You can use the AEV ProCal module to turn off the daytime running lights and then run the halos to a key activated power.

So let me revisit this, since I am in Michigan I don't have to run the DRL's and would rather not. Is the 6V a seperate connection that I can just leave not connected, or is it computer controlled and there is only one connector, so that is why I need the programmer? Because I would probably just wire the DRL to the front parking/turn signals I think.

Thanks. Scott

Yes the 6v is computer controlled. There is only one connection for the headlight and it runs at 6v when headlights off and at 12v when headlights turned on. The halo ring is hooked up separate as you mention to parking and turn signals. I can almost guarantee someone in your area on this site has an AEV procal that would let you use it for free to turn off the 6v.

Very clear, now it all makes sense LOL, thanks. And great idea, I'll post something to ask around.

The ProCal units are paired/ "married" to the VIN. They wouldn't be able to let him use it without removing their own customizations and then locking it to his vehicle.
