I had these on my M1151 during my last deployment...put em on there with the idea we'd be able to spot IED's further away...so wrong, haha. These things are only good for about 20-30 feet. And even within that range, it's a different type of light, it's not as effective, or as bright, as the incandescent white. Overall...they suck.

Now that is the pratical kind of information I like to see. I can think of no better way to determine the quality of a headlight than to use them while looking for IEDs! Your experience and feedback is enough to convince me not to get these. By the way Etidie, thank you for your service to our country. I for one appreciate it very much. I noticed in your signature, that you have the HID projector conversion. Would you mind sharing pics of that? Thanks.

I just noticed on a recent trip to Disneyland that the trams there use these new LED headlights. Yep, as posted earlier they are only good for about 20-30ft of decent light and even then....it's just decent. I have no idea how these got D.O.T. Approved, I bet the are useless in any weather other than ideal.

Default Different Opinion....Yes I know they are like --------

I have had these TL LED's for a month and a half. They are far brighter than my Silverstars or Hella's in the stock lamp housing. The highbeams throw light much much farther than the stocks with aftermarket bulbs. The 20 to 30 feet comment is BS....your not comparing apples to apples. Yes everybody has their own preferences...and some may feel 299 ea is to much....to each their own. I have been very happy with these....big improvement over stock and aftermarket bulbs. I'm not very good with pic uploads but I will try to post a pic or 2 of these at night.

souprdawg, how straight forward was the install? did you have to fab any custom brackets? or are they pretty much a direct replacement? can you use the factory adjustment screws? also, how wide is the light output? do they spread light out to the edge of the road or are they narrow beams?

The install is easy....they fit directly in factory frame and the frame is what has the adjustment screws which allows them to adjust just like factory. No special fabrication needed. The light pattern is very broad and centralizes extra bright light to the center...when you hit the high beam the light direction does not jump up like my factory light housing did....it keeps the same direction just cuts on the bottom half of the LED's which pours light out like crazy. I have had many Infiniti's and various other cars with zenon headlamps which put out a bright , non-yellow, bluish white....these are closer to that if not further. They almost seem fluorescent in nature. Cool lights....

cool, thanks for the info. i'm considering getting these sometime. I'm just curious, do they have a sharp cutoff like the hid xenons have? It would be interesting to see a pic of the beam pattern against a wall and another of what the end result of your install looks like in the daylight.

Don't get me wrong, these could be a different, "civilianized" version of the military ones we had in Iraq. but if they're anything like em, they're not worth a damn.
