Well really I like hearing where anyone puts the amp, just in case I like the idea better than my own. Lol!

Check out rockford fosgate boosted rail amp. It's tiny but can kick up 300 watts rms and it connects to the factory wires for signal.
I've been looking at the details for the Rockford Fosgate PBR300X1. Just wondering, how did you wire up the input signals? I would think we would have to splice off the front speaker to get a cleaner signal.

Actually I don't have that amp, it was just a suggestion because it packs alotta punch and is so small. I do have and use Rockford amps though. I would think that if your using the factory head and keeping the rest stock, yeah splice off the front speakers because the sub signal is already eq'd and might limit the amount of frequency response avail. To the new sub which is more capable than stock.

So I ended up getting the little Rockford Fosgate PBR300X1 to power the sub. It will be a couple days before I can install it and let yall know how it does. I dont have a garage to work in and its been -5'F to 10'F the past couple days, so i will have to wait till it gets back into the 30's before i can stand to work outside.

Here is a picture of it. I just put the iPod Nano in there so that you can see how small the amp is.

Can you just do a straight over swap from the stock amp to this or is there more to it

So the sub was just pressed fit in place? There's no actual screws securing the mounting ring? If so, wow, no wonder these subs are not powered too highly - they'd blow themselves out of the enclosure!

Thanks for the information. Another item to address when my 2012 lands.

Damn it... i really hate computers... I just wrote a long explanation of what i was going to do and then a window popped up saying explorer has failed and is restarted... and of course with the restart it didn't keep anything i typed...

So the short version is now, the PBR300x1 does not replace the stock amp, it has to be run in conjunction with it. Its just to get more power to the subwoofer. I am going to make a bracket and mount the new amp over the stock amp, splice into the front speaker wires to get its input signal. I will then cut the 4 wires from the stock amp to the sub and use them, run in pairs so that its the same as running 2 wires.

I'm going to try it first in 2 Ohm and if its enough bass and what i am looking for, then i will keep it that way. But i still have the option of running it at 1 ohm and getting the full 300 rms watts if i need to. (Ignore this statement, I cant actually fun a 2 ohm DVC sub at 2 ohm on a Mono Amp).

Wasn't sure if you were referring to the Kicker sub i installed or the Infinity one, but either way, they are both securely screwed to the enclosure. In the stock sub picture, i had already removed the cover and screws. With the Kicker sub, its screwed in the same way, screws go threw the grill, sub, spacer and into the enclosure. Nothing was press fit. The stock sub just takes a little prying to get lose after you take the screws out.

is this a dual voice coil sub? How will you run it as 2 ohm or 1?

Was referring to the stock sub, but now I understand. Thanks for the clarification.
