Default Keep my gig, change speakers, subs, add amps?

New guy here. I have seen many posts saying that in order to get max sound with aftermarket speakers is to upgrade the HU. I have a mygig, and upgraded infinity speakers. Does anyone know if the my gig HU puts out any more power than the other factory units? Can anyone find a pig tail (harness) that will connect the mygig HU to an external amp?

Crutchfield says that they don't have one yet or can even produce a schematic so that someone could splice wires themselves.

Does the mygig HU and the included infinity amp have enough juice to run upgraded speakers and an upgraded sub by themselves?

Get a JL audio Cleansweep from crutchfield then add your amps and speakers from there.

Exclamation

I have the mygig with the JK infinity amp and a pair of after market speakers (Kicker) 2 ohm in the soundbar and I can tell you that the sound is AWESOME!

Replacing the speakers in the soundbar made the trick

I didn't replace the JK infinity amp for the Nitro amp so go figure...

I guess the problem with the JK infinity amp is just for the ones with the infinity HU.

IMHO

could be, but i have mygig and infinity system and swapped to the nitro amp with still the infinity stock speakers and have noticed a noticable difference, but i can tell that new speakers will be a plus too, so not so sure about it being just the infinity HU

What's is the Nitro AMP and also what Kicker speaker did you order for the sound bar?

Thanks, Ben

Ben, the Nitro amp is the stock Infinity amp from a Dodge Nitro. Here are some links to threads:

Keith,
Thanks! That is a great find. I will start looking for one on these. I wonder if I were to upgrade the soundbar speaker to the Kickers that they would make a difference too?

Thanks, Ben

Changing the speakers will make a huge difference, more of a difference than the Nitro Amp in my opinion. I've done both. For sheer ease of install the Nitro can't be beat, but I think you'll get way more out of new speakers and an aftermarket amp. It's just way pricier, so it'll depend on your budget.

Does Crutchfields carry a plug and play amp and speakers for the JK? I guess I should contact them and stop bothering you...

Thanks, Ben
