I'm having the same issues with my Firestick (less than 2 SWR) and my 103" steel whip (2.5+ SWR) using a mount similar to the CoolTech one.

Try a couple of things - one step at a time. See if it makes a difference.
Check all of the connections first. Do you have a good ground on the radio and antenna mount?
Take the spring out - What is the SWR?
What is the SWR across all of the channels?
Is there any excess coax?

Chances are if you are using a spring and 102" whip it will be slightly electrically long. Like Jeff said, try removing the spring and seeing if that makes a difference. If it does not, then you probably have a coax problem. 102" whips are usually great matches so if it's showing that high I'd suspect some other cause.

That's very typical. Glad to hear you found the problem.
