I thought Harley was trying to rip us off when they started offering these for $400+ each last year. I almost bought a black one for my Street Glide until I read the reviews on the Harley Forum. Hope they last longer on the JKs than they do on the Harleys.

What does that mean? They are rated for 40,000 hours. Eveing assuming you run them 24 hrs a day (never get out of your Jeep), that is 4.6 years. Also they carry a 4 year warranty.

Here's a quick link. Looks like the early ones were bad about condensation and prone to failure. I haven't looked twice at them due to the issues people were having as a headlight is very important on a motorcycle.

2012- needed to trim complete housing about half way down- and move both airbag modules- took a total of 40 minutes start to finish- a dremel with culling bit- short 10mm socket wrench and 2 2" nut/bolts

Could you give a little advice on any install hiccups or tricks?
Did you use an aftermarket wiring harness?

Also, if not too much trouble, could you find a flat wall that you could take a picture of the beam pattern at night from about 25ft. away?

I'm seriously considering those...

Thanks!

It looks like those hd riders experiencing problems are with different lights. I know jw speaker makes a model similar to our 7" version (or maybe same) as a main light, not auxiliary, which guys use on their hd. Granted, that is a problem to weigh on a bike, I own a hd, but those problems don't seem like they'd relate to us directly.

Just reread post. He does have the jw speaker main light, but I think his problem is not with that, it's with only auxiliary lights and I'm not sure jw speaker makes those.

The earlier ones (#73390-10) had issues. The later ones (#73390-10A) don't. That's what I can tell. Hopefully your not buying the ones Harley found defective.
