Issue with Sirius freezing and locking up.
Hey all,
'07 JK - Factory Infinity, single-disk, satellite radio.
I am having a problem with Sirius locking up and and freezing. Reception in my area is not great -- but it's not that. Seems to happen at random times. When it locks up, after about 30 seconds Sirius will eventually kick you out into FM radio. Sometimes it will work after a few minutes of (re)trying - Other times you have to park it and forget about it for a while.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes?
Additional info: I just had Sirius re-enabled in the JK after about 3 years off. Their online 'refresh signal' thing wasn't working. I had to call customer service and they went through some manual update procedure they had to push down to my radio. That worked to get Sirius enabled, but now it's buggy. Never did this prior. As it is, they seemed to be eager to blame my inability to reactivate the radio on hardware problems with my radio. I'm not sold on that yet.

Currently using the hard-top. Ran it like this in the years past, and it was ok. The problem is not as though it's searching for a signal, or can't get reception or a channel - it basically freezes right up. You can switch back to FM or CD or whatever, but you are unable to do 'anything' in Sirius mode. No channel changing, no info, no volume, etc.
So - some updated info. It very well may be an issue with my head unit. The problem has acted as though it's heat related. Things seem to work with the radio is hot -- seems to not work when the radio is cold.
Reception is pretty terrible in my area, and I'm only on a free trial period with Sirius... so I may just ignore the issue and move on with life.

I recently noticed this same thing!!
It's either the antenna going out or my actual radio, I believe... My wife's car never missed a beat. My jeep will "freeze up", not allowing me to change channels, etc. If it defaults back to FM radio, it sometimes takes hours for it to work again... Very frustrating!!
