Mine does have a little plug down by the charging plug but I've never used it. The output on the ipod is like 3 inches away from the input on the radio so I've just used that configuration.

Try hooking it up each way, see what you think.

Default Pocket Dock?

What about a pocket dock? Do they still make those? That would charge it and would bypass the amp in the iPod that is in teh headphone jack.

If anyone knows where to get a pocket dock, let me know.

I have not gotten one for my JK yet, as I heard there might be a MOPAR version, but if there is nothing comming, I might head back to Fry's.

If I'm reading this correct, there is a plug in the back of the headunit that will allow a direct connection to the ipod, with a cable that I can get from an electrionics shop?

Silver JK, I like this set up you have there but one question, what do you do when you exit the vehicle and the outlet stays on?....do you just pull the charger away until it stops making contact or does the led not use up enough juice to worry about?...thanks HEK

Here is a pic - I used my white cable so that it shows up in the picture. I bought a 1 foot 3.5mm stereo cable at Radio Shack and cut it and soldered a shorter plug. Hope this helps you decide how you want to go.

And just cuz I couldn't resist - here's the silver JK

Nope. It will work with anything which plays music and has a 3.5mm headphone jack in it.

HEK - good question. I was worried about it sucking too much juice initially but I've not had a problem. When I've left the JK for an extended time I pull the thing out of the charger. So far I've found this configuration to work best for me of what I've tried thus far. Mostly because the ipod gets charged, it's easy to see and operate and the cord can be very short so it's not dangling around.

FR - I was referring to the iPOD holder pictured, not the input on the headunit.

Thanks Silver JK, what I may do is swap outlets and move the radar detector plug to where you have the charger/ holder and just shut off manually the radar detector as it doesn't get much use ( wife drives very slooooow ) and just turn it on when I'm behind the wheel as cops in the towns I drive thru give out tickets for going over 5 mph over the posted speed limit...anyway I'll see how it looks and thank God I didn't cut the wire to length...thanks again...HEK
