Default instrument cluster not working and windshield wipers stuck on

Hey guys,

So, the issue is when I turn the key the instrument cluster is not working at all, the wipers come on by themself and nothing on the steering column works

I think I've narrowed it down to the TIPM module or the cluster itself but not sure witch to pursue first.
Any wisdom is welcomed.

This is exactly what my problem is and have posted in the other thread. To include my additional symptoms, the doom light doesn't work, the blower works and changes speed but no AC since nothing is working there, the radio works fine, brake lights work, turn signals don't. I had the TIPM rebuilt and that made no difference (MAKS is a great place). The challenge is it could be a bad wire (shorted or open) but I have no way to find it. I just dropped her off at the dealer. I went through this with several people and mentioned I though maybe the cluster module was bad but their diagnostics which identify the issue. They did a scan while I was there and they had four hits of not able to communicate with the dash cluster. They also mentioned that with an older jeep like this their equipment may not be able to fully diagnose the issue but so far they have been able to find problems. If they can't I have to take her to the only dealer around (in another county) that has the equipment for the older jeeps. I am hopeful to hear back from them soon and know something more positive.

Yeah that's no good sorry to hear you're in the same boat.

If I do find the issue I'll post on here for you.
It's hard here too. No one in Australia will touch them so I have to become a mechanic and auto sparky myself.
and I'm not the brightest bulb ha

I'll keep you updated 🤙

The issue is the cluster module. They have ordered one and hopefully she will be fixed next week. I will let you know when she is fixed.

I replaced my TIPM Box it did nothing to fix the problem. If my 2008 JK is not running i have to disconnect the battery wait 10 seconds reconnect then start the engine and everything works fine.

It might be the cluster. The dealer had the equipment to identify the issue and I had them replace the cluster so I knew it was a good cluster and didn't have to start to go back and forth if it wasn't fixed. Good thing too since the first cluster they put in fixed everything but the fuel gauge didn't work. They had to get another one and replace it.

This could also be a turn signal stalk. It controls headlights, dome light, cluster lighting. I once pressure washed my interior and the turn signal dwitch went bad because of it and i had many similar issues. I think they technically call the turn signal stalk a "multi function switch" it wasbt that expensive and may be worth just changing.
