I do not know what color code wires feed which accessories but I can say I hope you used an item similar to the link I shared. If you just stripped a wire and taped it, may have an inconsistent connection which could lead to more problems.

 

I used the wire connector/splicer that came with the lights, very similar to what you posted

 

Just to verify, it is the control circuit (pin 85) that is tapped in, not the load circuit (pin 30)? The lights draw 8 amps (110/13.8) so the load circuit should draw from the battery. It's generally a good idea to avoid the OEM circuits as much as possible on a CANBUS system anyway. I'm not sure where you grabbed that wire but white/purple is the tail light on mine as you can see in this picture.

 

I drew from under the passengers side dash being that was the easiest place to access the wire. I'm honestly not sure what circuit I pulled from.

 

The fused wire in the kit goes to the battery?

Yeah that's the tail light wire you tapped. Make sure the wire you tapped into the tail light is at least the same gauge as the tail light wire. If it's smaller gauge (numerically higher) then you should put a 3A inline fuse in at the tapping point.
