Default Infinity Audio/Amp/Levels Sorted - No Dealer Upgrade / No Amp/Speaker Swap

Hi All!

Right, I had read loads on here about the crappy sound from the soundbar and the stock Infinity amp in the premium sound package.

So... I decided to take some professional advice on the subject and went to an award winning car audio install company called 'BassMechanix', I have used them for a few years for installs in various vehicles and they sorted me with the solution to the problem!

Its a new unit by Rockford Fosgate, and is essentially a sound processor that fits inline with the stock system, and allows total unique levels to be created on each speaker in the vehicle setup, and can be changed on the fly by a Windows Bluetooth Enabled device (smartphone/laptop/etc..) on the fly, through some very intuative software, and without swapping any speakers out or having my amp flashed my problems are gone and the sound is literally perfect!!

this is the website of the processor:

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?item_id=106187

Its literally the size of a couple of cigarette packets and has been mounted behind the dash, i have fotos but they are really bad!

but this is the software:

(this is taken from online not my screengrab)

and was not too expensive either @ £475 installed

So there is another option for all you ppl dissatisfied like I was!

Nice spam.

Undoubtedly you also read loads about the dreaded death wobble too. lol

Take it all with a grain of salt. My sound system is just fine, read the instructions and set up the balance and type of music and rock out!

def need a good pinch of salt, when i took my car in bone stock to BassMechanix, the owner came out and took the car out with some "test dvd/cd's" and he said it is one of the best stock setups he has come across, and much better than the BOSE setup in my RX8

the headunit actually tracks sound levels far better as stock then £600-1000 alpine/jvc/kenwood units, with levels v.comparible to nakamachi and marantz units

i was thinking of swapping it all out for a new setup but it would be extra money for less gain - nuts imo!

but def, if you can get a soundlevel perfect for you on the 3base eq, thats excellent for you

That's tall coin for just optimizing the stock system...

yes and no really, as yeah it is stock equipment granted, its all about being able to customize each speakers eq and level, as they are good quality speakers, and no where near as bad as ppl have been making out, but this option is significantly cheaper than replacing everything in a bid to try and get sound like i have now - as that is in the region of £1500-2000 for a basic install

Does it work via the canBUS or does it just modify the signals coming from the headunit through the stock wiring. If it uses a data bus then I can see why this is an expensive upgrade. I would love to have this setup if its really worth it.

im pretty sure it does, as this was the main cost of the fitting, getting the wiring correct mid harness took them a little while to sort

Well for 700 dollars US. That is too much for a stock setup. I have to do something with my audio. My dodge nitro amp pops when I use the LOW MED HI settings off of "0". I still have the old amp, where as I could just put the old one back in and have the dealer jerk with it or a car audio place do it. I just dont know what I will do yet.

I have a couple questions. Where did they take the audio inputs from? The high levels straight out of the deck? I saw the RF unit takes hi-level inputs but the output is RCA line out. How did they tie that in to the factory amp? Did they replace the amp with an aftermarket 5 channel? Looks like a nice processor. nice find.

the audio output is taken from what the headunit feeds the amp, and sits inbetween the headunit and amp in the stock wiring that has basically been carved up to suit! if that makes sense??

the only part of my sound system that is aftermarket is this processor, the rest is all stock equipment.

tbh i cant take credit for the find, they recommeded it to me over a full new system due to the quality of the stock pieces individually and my requirements
