Default How to route winch power cables to battery on 2012?

Hi,

I've got a Warn 9500 cti-s installed on my PSC Brawler Lite bumper, but I can't figure out how to route the wires safely on my 2012. I looked on the forum for write-ups on running the winch power lines, but my search-fu seems to be weak. Anybody have pictures/suggestions/links on how to run the wire for positive/negative to the battery in a 2012?

Thanks!

tagged...I would like to know too.

For now I ran my 2008 along the passenger side and zip-tied it to either the transmission or A/C high pressure line the around the fuze box. But it passed very close to a radiator hose and I worry about current drop when the power cable is hot.

Might be a bit different for you than me w/ a 2012, the battery on mine is located all the way to the rear of the engine bay, on the passenger side, but sideways. The positive is closest to the firewall, negative is towards the radiator. Either way, look forward to some advice.

The warn cti I have, routed that way, does not have a long enough positive cable. That's how I tried to route it.

I got angry at the whole situation, and just pulled apart the winch, unbolted the positive/negative cables, got my own 2 gauge copper cable, crimped on copper bolt eyes (5/16", sized for 2 gauge wire) on one side of the cable, bolted that up to the winch positive/negative, then ran that how I wanted - marked where to terminate the wire, cut the wire, crimped on more copper bolt eyes, and then bolted them to the battery posts. I made sure to use shrink wrap tape where the copper eyes were bolted on. The wire itself has great insulation, but I did reuse the sleeve that was on the positive cable that came with the winch.

In hindsight, I should have routed the ground cable slightly differently, but it's great where it is. I'll try to remember to take pictures later, it's nothing fancy/not the best routing in the world, but it works, looks clean, and don't block access to anything in the engine.

PS - I used 2 gauge because that's what the winch uses stock, and I was only adding about 1 1/2 foot on the positive lead. 0 gauge would have been a pain to route.
