How to install a stealth sound system in your JKU
#12
So it looks like you need 2 separate Maestro components to really make this work, keeping steering wheel controls and bypassing the amp (I assume these help with that, perhaps not).
Assuming I'll never go back to stock anything for audio, did you make use of any of the factory speaker wiring or just run new stuff?
I'm picturing this: Maestro plugs into old HU inputs and then into new HU. New wires from HU to amp(s), new wiring to speakers.
If this is accurate, how hard is it to pull new wiring throughout the Jeep? I'm dealing with a 2013 JKU (as shown by my avatar).
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, two Maestro harnesses are needed.
1. The First Maestro harness plugs into the OEM harness.
2. The Second Maestro harness connects to new HU harness.
3. The RCA cables run to the amps.
4. Speaker inputs from maestro harness then get extended back to amp using 9 wire cable
We made use of the factory speaker wires since I'm not running big power for my mids.
So overall, i'd say running wiring in the Jeep (considering it's pretty basic interior) is much easier than that in most cars.
Hope this helps!

Something I pieced together to keep price low, and purchased when I had a TJ but never fully installed prior to trading it in for the F150 I had, needed the added room because of second kid and car seat; still miss that TJ. Got me all around New Mexico
My amp is to big physically but does a good job, its a memphis baby belle 5 channel for being 9 yrs old it aint bad at all. The kenwood head unit is tweaking on me and needs to be replaced but the biggest dislike about it is the display, I would have to walk out to the Jeep to get the model but it was just the cheapest double din that had bluetooth, dvd, rear camera. Then there are some RFs with built in crossovers up from and co-axial RFs over head, underneath the drive seat is Matt11 sub box with RF 10 sub.
So it aint bad and I did it all myself. All I really need is another sub, two amps that take up less space and a head unit I like the display, I like yours. I might change out the front speakers too, the ones I have are to harsh in the highs.
But I have other things to do before tackling it again, unless I buy a piece here and a piece there.

Gotcha. Well sounds like you're in no desperate need for a huge overhaul, just a few tweaks here and there. Sounds like you'll be able to figure out what works best for you but let me know if you have any questions.
