Just got the 82212000 ipod cable for my 2010 JK w/ MyGig/UConnect. I thought that there would be a plug behind the glove box that the ipod cable would connect to, but I couldn't seem to find anything. The cable looks to be about 36" long, so I'm guessing that it plugs directly into the back of the head unit?

yes, it plugs in the back of the HU.

So there was an existing square 10 pin connector, just like the iPod cable connector, plugged into the radio. That connector only had 5 wires, 3 green striped, and 2 grey wires. When I disconnected that plug, all radio functions still worked. But when I plugged in the ipod cable, it did not power the ipod or allow me to control it.

So I think that I bought the wrong cable and that I need the 82211853 "RER MyGig iPod Integration Kit". Ugh. I swear I spent hours reading and thought that the 82212000 was the right cable for the 2010 RER.

82211853 is the one that should be used...it was for the 2009 MyGig RER Nav units.

It bridges between the radio and the main radio connection wire loom.

I bought this cable this morning and installed it in the Jeep in 10 minutes. The cost from the dealer at $90 plus was a little steep but I love the end result.

The dealer sold me the wrong cable first and I used the number from this thread to school the dealership that this was the correct cable for the RER stereo.
