Default Horn questions

Hey guys,

Dumb question here. I've had my 2007 4 door for about a month now. It's incredible. Anyhow, I was going through a 1 foot puddle yesterday and must've clogged the horn with water as it only emits a pathetic squeak now.

First question - I was going through the fuse box, and it lists 2 horns, high note and low note. Are there actually two horns on board? I downloaded the JK repair manual and it says it's a bi-note horn. How does this work?

Second question - Have you experienced water logging it, and if so, how did you get the water out?

Thanks for the help guys!

Micah

One horn on the JK. The horn was lousy when it worked. Now that it has been damaged by water time to upgrade. There are some really good horns out there but they can be pretty pricey. I used the $10 air horn from Harbor Freight. It works well is easy to install and can always be tossed for an upgrade later. I used a 25 amp fuse instead of the 10 (M23 in your fusebox under the hood) (also there is a white fuse puller inside the box just look for it... it really helps to remove them) and I got rubber tubing from the Autozone. The plastic line is worthless and not long enough. It will harden and crack later. It is a plug and go using the bracket from the original and wires right in. You don't need the relay that comes in the package. Just use the bolt that slides on the pump. Test the air pump to make sure it is putting air out not pulling it in. Just switch the wires if it's not working right. I mounted my horns facing down and along the radiator area. I will use black "plastic" paint to tone down the red. pun intended!

I'll try to find a link.

Thanks for the replies guys. I definitely am going to replace the horn. In my last car I had an ahoooga horn as well as the stock horn with a selector switch mounted in the cabin. I might do something like that.

I still have this question though, what does the wiring diagram look like for the '07's? In the relay box I see to fuses for the horn, and I don't understand why. Anybody know?

Thanks!

Great info! Was playing in my Fuse box today, had to replace the blown M23 as well. Got the Bad Boy also from Harbor Freight and changed up to a 15 amp we'll see how that holds up. I'll have to check on that fuse puller you mentioned as I didn't notice it.

So did anyone have any problems with switching 10 amp fuses to higher amp fuses (15, 20, etc.) in the engine fuse box?
