Default Horn and cruise control help

Horn randomly stopped working about 2 months ago. After about two weeks, it randomly started working again. Now, it went out again. Cruise control also wont even turn on. Everything else on the dash and the windshield wiper/spray/lights/ect. All work fine, anyone know whats going on?

Sounds like to me your clock spring has gone bad. That is like a slipring so electrical signals can get from the steering wheel that moves to the steering column which is fixed. Trying to honk the horn is about the first thing we do when someone complains about the cruise control not working since they share the clock spring device.

Is there a way to see if it's broken for sure?

Highly likely it's your clock spring. Unless there is a way to connect a device to scan for a clock spring error, the only way to know for sure is to remove the airbag, shroud, and steering wheel to visually inspect.

How much does a new clock spring run?

$185-$200, depending where you get it from. Labor to install is a couple hundred dollars, but it's honestly 30-45 minutes of work. I'm about to do it (or have my husband do it for me haha). There is a great write-up on the forum that steps through it. Can't recall the exact link. Do a search for it. If you cannot find it, PM me, and I will try to dig it up. The guy took lots of pictures and did an outstanding job. Within the last 2 weeks IIRC.

Just a really inferior part from the factory. Its a warranty item for select 2007 models. Newer models aren't covered even though it's the same part.

Here is the write-up:
