thread back from the dead.
anybody have any luck with this? using stock wires, and if so, does it trigger factory alarm?
if not, what wires did you tap into if you added a universal pin for the hood?

Ok here ya go:
-the hood pin is mounted on the driver side. We added a 1x1" piece of metal to the structure on the hood to give the pin a flat surface to contact.
I mounted the proximity sensor to the rear sound bar. I ran the wires through the bar and down the roll cage, shown here. The brain of my alarm is mounted under the steering wheel (viper python).
Hope this helps.

It would be great if there was a way to install a hood pin switch and connect it in with the factory alarm system. This is probably one of the most sought after enhancements for people like me who would like to add-in for the stock alarm system for the JK.
Sounds like a tough nut to crack!

i am going to add a hood pin this weekend. it should be pretty simple, just find a negative trigger and tag into it. i have a bunch of hood pins in a drawer somewhere left over from all the alarms where i never installed them. they are universal mount and come with a bendable plate to mount in just about any location. you can find one at just about any place that installs alarms, probably for free.

Finally got around to this little project, works like a charm.
Tapped my standard alarm pin switch and shock sensor into the gate wire at the passenger kick panel loom.
Added a relay to isolate the shock sensor when the key is on (don't want the dome light on while driving, right?)

This is an old thread, but whatever the case, I have a 2007 JKU bought new in Oct 06. Since it was an X model it has manual windows and did not have the remote for locking/unlocking with the factory EVS1 alarm system. I had the dealership install the factory EVS2 system. Since my engine bay has a light that comes on when the hood is opened, my alarm goes off whenever the light comes on. Hence when the hood is opened. It works on my JKU.
