Interesting We took out our rear seat over a year ago and the problem just started yesterday. I'm glad you fixed it on your Jeep! I'll pass this info on to mr aznjeepgirl...thanks!

There wouldn't be a ground at the rear seat. I say this because the wiring harness goes form the taillight straight up into the cab. From there it goes forward to the roll bar. At the roll bar it drops next to the passenger seat and goes forward under the passenger kick panel.

When you put the seat in did you also buckle in a child seat? Is the loose seat belt hitting the wiring? When the seat is in, how often do you have a passenger? Is the seat belt in a different position when the seat is installed? When you were putting in the Herculiner did you move the wiring harness?

The seat is an interesting find but I think the root cause is something else.

The seat is not relavent to the circuit. You may have hit something though that is related while installing the seat...

Glad you figured out what the problem was. I had the same thing happen to me on the way home last night (fast blinking left turn signal) and knew right away it had to be a bulb on the driver side.

I picked up two packages of the 3157LL (Long Life bulbs) and swapped all four bulbs in the rear because you know once one goes, the others will start to go in no time at all.

I did have to go to three different Canadian Tire stores before I found one that actually had bulbs in stock The only good thing is I paid a total of $0.49 for four bulbs as I had almost $12.00 in Canadian Tire money in the Jeep

Reactivating an old thread, but I the very same issue with my passenger tail light occurred two nights ago. The parking light would function, but the brake and signal portion would not and of course it was compounded by the rapid blinker when the turn signal arm was engaged to go right. Took it to the dealership and swapped the two tail light assemblies and determined that it was a defective passenger-side pig tail wiring harness. Should get it today for around $22.00 and be back in action.
