HELP! I just bought a 2016 radio off Craigslist. Will it fit a 2008?

Default HELP! I just bought a 2016 radio off Craigslist. Will it fit a 2008?

Does anyone know if the touchscreen radio from a 2016 Wrangler will fit a 2008 Wrangler? also, do I need any wiring?

Looks like the model RBZ MyGIG 40

That doesn't look like the right mounting positions for the radio.....e.g. it won't fit. Typically, no issues. What did it come out of? Not a wrangler, that's for sure.

Our radios don't mount like that. He's lying to you or did some custom mounting.

Comparison....

Yeah... that's not out of a wrangler. I just replaced the radio in my wife's 2016 and the mounting system is exactly the same as my 2011 wrangler and it looks just like the mounting system in the link that Karl posted.

That's not a radio from a wrangler.

In terms of bus speed it should work. Since it's a 2016 radio, it's got an anti-theft system built into it. I don't know if that comes into play since you're using it in a 2008. Did he give you a code to input into the radio when it comes on?

This may help you too - http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_nav_2.htm

he does not have a code for it. had a car audio place put in a new radio with rearview camera and is selling this one. Is it worth buying or $100? can it be made to work?

He lied. Possibly a stolen radio. Definitely not out of a wrangler.

The lower mounting tabs will interfere with the dash facia. I bought a similar radio off CL that the previous owner did the same thing. But he actually got installed in his JK. So I gave it a go and kept it. I got mine to mostly work. The only thing that no longer works is the USB in the center console.

You'll likely need a security code, as was mentioned, but it's only a 4 digit code. I paid some web site $5 for my code because I didn't want to sit there trying code after code and I couldn't find any sources that were free.
