Default Hella Windshield Light Question HELP!

Ok, I have tried to search this on here but I have had no luck. I have Hella windshield lights mounted I have the relay all connected, and I have the switch installed. The only thing is I do not want to splice into my hi beams/low beams, I only want the lights to come on when I turn the switch on. So do I need to connect the switch to the battery as well? I know this is probably a dumb question but this is my first time dealing with lights.

Thanks for you help!

Power for the switch needs to come from a positive wire from like the cigarette lighter or something. A switched source that doesn't have a constant supply of power.

Just tap off of the positive wire that runs to the cigarette lighter, if you accomplished everything else this will be cake!! Gently pop off the black panel below the cigarette lighter and you will be able to access the positive wire. I just used a wire tape from the hardware store and ran the wire right to the switch. Does this help?

There is a cleaner way.. Use a fuse tap in the M8/M9 pin, thats what I did, seems better than splicing into anything.

I tapped mine off my side parking lights. The switch lights up when my parking lights come on and allows me use of the lights without the headlights on.
