If you add a harness to power them directly from the battery via a couple relays you will bump up the output considerably. The Jeeps voltage is too low and fluctuates too much at the lights.

Why didn't you just buy the h13 kit?

I maned up and chose the JW Speakers (8700 Evolutions- in black). I gotta be honest, they're worth every penny. I know they are not in everyone's budget but if they are in yours and you are on the fence about them DON'T be, GET THEM. They look sick, both on and off. Every time my lights click on, I just SMILE...

Default Nokya 100/80 H13 and H16s for Heads and Fogs

I really wanted to do a projector HID retrofit or a Trucklite but I just couldn't justify the extra $ right now, not with all the other mods I want to do first. At the same point though we all know how bad the stock lights are and I just couldnt take it anymore so I decided to go one of the least expensive ways I could to tide me over until I'm ready to spend a little more.

For the headlights I went with Nokya H13 100/80 watt bulbs along with a thicker wire harness adapter to handle the extra heat generated by the hiogher watt bulb. I picked up the bulbs on that auction site for $22 and the harness for $9.

here is a pic of em -

Sorry this is the only pic I have of the light difference, its not great but you can see its a slightly brighter and much whiter light, nothing like HIDs but for the $ I am very happy with the results -

For the fogs I used the H16 bulb and just did the little trim on the extra tab from the harness with a razor blade to make it fit the 2012 JK harness Only $21 bucks shipped. They match the heads perfectly and the cutoff is just like stock, just a slightly brighter and much whiter light -

I will still want to upgrade in the future but for now I am satisfied with a much improved light output and non orange light output! Plus heads, fogs and the head harness only cost me $52 total. You can search for the bulbs by looking for Nokya Artic White. I've had them in for about 2 months now.

wasn't a big fan of H13's and all my other vehicles use H4's.

Can anyone running a kit from theretrofirsource.com tell me exactly all they they got from there? I'm looking at possibly doing something like that.

The Hellfire kit looks to me like the cheap Chinese kits they sell on Amazon...only much more expensive. I made the mistake of buying one and had nothing but problems. Yeah the light is much brighter and with proper adjustment will not blind oncoming traffic (they need to be aimed much lower than halogens), but half the time one of them wouldn't fire up and I would have to turn the lights off and back on to get it to kick on. I'm not sure if I didn't have it grounded properly or something...but this kit had about 4 different ground connections. I don't know how many more it could possibly need. I just gave up and ripped the whole kit out a couple days ago and put in a pair of Sylvania zXe bulbs. They're not nearly as bright as the HIDs, but then again the HIDs were almost overkill. The zXe bulbs are definitely much whiter than the stock lights and will have to do until I find another practical and not terribly expensive alternative. I just don't really want to spend $400+ on headlights right now.

I just picked up the h13 silver star ultra. Can I just put them in as replacement bulbs or do I have to have some kit thing?
