Default Head End & Speaker Install Instructions

Bout to install a Kenwood double din touch screen receiver, JBL 6.5" speakers in the sound bar, underfront dash and two JBL BasePro's under the front seats.

Seems like for my last sound system install on an older JK that I found a pretty good thread for step instructions, wiring up the harness, installing the speakers, etc.

If anyone has a good set of aftermarket install instructions, link to thread or video, sure would appreciate it.

thanks,

BB

Default Tips

If its a 2011+ pull the dash cowl off with by removing four 6mm bolts. 2 under the steering wheel just pull that panel off. One under the sunglass holder pull the rubber matt thing. Unplug the Power window and Door module and there is one under that if you have one. The dash should pull out at that point. From there you can pull the head unit plug and pull the unit out.

Thats how I would do it.

Anyone know if you can pull the headhunt out with a suction cup from the face or is it bolted down?
I'v never pulled the head unit out but I have taken the Gauge cluster and HVAC panels off to run wiring for my lockers.

Just trying to help him out.

It's bolted IIRC. And to install a true double din you will need to cut the metal bracket (or remove it) behind the dash. I kept it because it provides structure to the upper dash area as well.

I'm not sure however, if it is the same on the earlier interior.

And for my wiring, again may be different for you, I ran the wires accordingly...

I added an amp at the same time and had/kept steering wheel controls. The lines in the pic point to the from/to connections.
