Default Hard top wires

So the puppy decided my hard top wiring harness did not need to remain intact while driving over turkey day. Can I assume that a new harness is a direct replacement? Can I just splice in a foot or so of the new harness or do I have to chase it all the way back to the dash?

If there is enough wire left to work with, just splice it back.

ya just splice. in the summer i closed the hardtop harness that is in the back of the jeep in the tail gate.
just spliced in and shrink tubed it for water proofing and all is good. made it a little longer so i can put in
up the roller bar pad in the summer to get it out of the way.
