Default Hard Reset on RES Radio w/SIRIUS

Ok, tried searching but didn't come up with anything. We recently activated SiriusXM service on both JKs, and the wife's RES Radio w/XM seems to be having a glitch - while the service is activated, it constantly keeps breaking up regardless of what channel we have it on, and "Acquiring Signal" pops up, followed by music for a few seconds and back to "Acquiring Signal". Called Sirius and they did a radio refresh a few times and no change. De-activated and re-activated the radio, and still no go. The guy on the other end said to take it to the dealership and have them do a "Hard Reset" on the radio and that should fix that , and that they've had several Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep owners call in for the same problem.

What exactly is involved in a "Hard Reset" of the RES Radio w/SIRIUS? Anyone else having this issue, and if so, what did you have to do to resolve it?

This kinda sounds more like a recieving problem. Do you have a metal rack installed on this vehicle?

Nope. It's just a 2-Door X Soft Top with the top off - the antenna has a direct shot of the sky and the antenna is brand new. The RES unit itself, I bought off a forum member and the radio works fine. The connections are good as well. So, I'm not sure what the deal is.

Glad I'm not the only one. It's driving me nuts! And there's nothing that comes up when I try to google the info either

Try some of these threads.

Somewhere I read in there about going into engineering menu and adjusting the amount of reception satelites. If I remember right it was around 9-11.
There is also a thread about continueing reception while going under bridges.

Still says "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms".

Not sure I want to go with a booster when the REQ w/Sirius on my 07 works fine. Figured if out was something simple as a button combination or power cycling it off, I'd give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestions though. I'll just call Sirius and cancel the subscription.

Interceptor, Not sure why the links are not appearing. I recheck them after submitting and they come up. Now, they are not.
Anyway, go to the search box in upper right hand corner and search for Sirius and multible pages appear. Many threads on different troubles with Sirius. Alot of good info that may help.
Type in Sirius, and look for RES or intermittent reception. Just trying to help you out.

No problem . The second link you indicated about the booster seems to work - just the one with the search part wasn't. Maybe the link is a temporary one just for the specific search session. But appreciate the help. We found out what the issue was in our case - a bad SIRIUS antenna. Having 2 JKs in the house helps when you can swap the radios around to isolate what component was causing the issue - figured it had to be either the radio unit, or the antenna. Hooked up my REQ radio to the other antenna, and it started having the same issue. Hooked up the RES Radio to my JK and everything works fine. I'm going to replace the antenna and will post the results . Thanks again for all the help guys!!!
