Default Gauge illumination source

I have search this forum and have not found an answer I'm looking for. I installed a new electric oil pressure gauge and am looking for a source to tap into for the gauge illumination. Currently the gauge is illuminated after ignition is turned on.

I did find a reference for a grey/orange wire behind the HVAC but not sure if they were stating literally or meaning behind the AC controls in the center dash. Clarification would be nice before i rip everything apart.

I want the oil gauge illumination to work when I turn on the head light including dimming. I realize the CAN bus controls most of the electronics but something has to physically drive the dash and console lights.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Use the orange wire with the gray stripe behind the dash panel. That is what I hooked my LED strip to and it is comes on with parking and headlights, and dimable.
