Default Garage opener

I've got a garage opener that runs off the following battery

batteryprice.com/sizea2312vbattery.aspx

Can I hardwire this to my wrangler so I don't need to use batteries??

most likey yes. my concern would be that when the jeep is runnig the vehical voltage runs at about 14.4V and not 12V, but apart from that i dont see any problem.

I think the extra 2 volts may be an issue... You would probably have to wire up something fancy for it to work safely.

I don't think 1 or 2 volts would blow up your garage door opener. But I would put a fuse inline. Something less than 1 amp should be fine.

if your gonna go through the trouble of hardwiring a garage door opener (granted not all that much of a daunting task) why not go onto ebay and pick up a cool homelink style 3 button setup it will look slick and will wire right up. Check out the "write up section" search garage door opener and youll find plenty of ideas that other on this forum have already done. Some are more for basic function not so much aesthetics, while many have tried to make it look like the factory should have done it or would have in a grand cherokee and succeeded. Home links btw are a dime a doze (don't quote me on the price) but its the same basic 3 button settup in just about any manufacturer and they are all gonna run 12v so no fancy resistor tricks needed. You can pick one up on ebay for like 4 bucks shipped or some nonsense.
