Default Found an issue with Metra adaptor

Okay, so the other day I go get a load of rock to fill in the flower beds. I get home, back the Jeep and trailer into the yard, and start shoveling. The radio is going in the Jeep, but the subwoofer is out of it, so I should be okay right? Wrong. About 3 hours into it, the radio starts cutting out. So I call a friend to come jump me off, and all seems okay. Jeeps runs for a while, then turn it off, and it starts right back up. Figure out the next day that the battery is bad. Replaced battery, good to go, right? Wrong. Next morning, the radio doesn't work. I dig into the dash at lunch, and when I pull out the Metra adaptor for my aftermarket radio, it turns out the plastic cover over the circuit board has fallen off behind the dash. The Metra gizmo was going to ground and draining the battery and stopping the radio from getting power. I just wrapped it in electrical tape and threw it back in and it works now. It appears the case on those things is weak, so anybody who installs one might want to reinforce that case with some tape. I was lucky it didn't fry my radio. It came apart at the factory seam, so some tape there should probably do the trick for most. Just an FYI.

Good find. That could have been disastrous! I have had that issue with those as well, and usually wrap them in tape a few times to keep that from happening!
