A Few questions, new install, bad sound?
Hey there everyone...looking for fome audiophiles to chime in here.
Okay..so i upgraded all 4 of my stock infinity 6.5" speakers (soundbar & dash) with some JL Audio TR650's. At this point i haven't replaced anything else...so they are being pushed by the stock infinity amp and HU.
Can this be the reason why i think it sounds a bit worst? (bass-wise)
I mean...these are top of the line JL Speakers...would replacing the HU be enough to push more power to them..or would a separate 4ch amp have to be installed?
Another question i have is, If i replace the stock HU, can i still run the stock amp with stock sub?

I wouldn't go saying these are top of the line JL Speakers. They are still very nice, but TOL JL audio will be much more expensive than this model.
I have been taught that you need to give a speaker at least 70% of the recommended RMS rating, for the best performance. I believe those speakers are 50 watts RMS, so you want at least 35 watts RMS running to them, something most head units wont put out, so an amp may be in order.
Another issue may be just the speakers being more accurate. They may be producing some interference which the old speakers were unable to produce.

The speakers are 4ohm and are rate at 60W RMS.
I just got an amp that pushes out 75W per channel peak (which produces about 30W RMS per ch), would this be enough or should i bridge it and get more poer out of 2 channels?
Also, since i used the stock wiring to cut down on the time running new wires, does anyone see any problem amping using those wires? Has anyone used aftermarket amped speakers with the stock wiring?

I hear you man, my foot is in the mud already unfortunately...speakers are in and boxes are in the trash bin. Now i have to make it work.....so my questions still stands....
Can i amp the JL Audio's with the stock wiring..or do i need to run new wires?
BTW, it actually hurt a bit removing brand new infinity speakers...as it will hurt in a few weeks removing the rest of the infinity sound system...but...let see what i get once all is in place.

depending on the watts of the amp you may need to rewire. I't so cheap now to get an amp put in by a pro (around $100) that I just let them go through all the headaches and enjoy the extra warranty.
I also put JL audio speakers in my truck and not until I replaced the stock head unit with an aftermarket one with larger watts did I really hear how much better those speakers were than the stock units.
But I digress... having read many a post about the Jks stock systems I could see no way around replacing the entire system for my listening tastes. The stock headunits supposedly "throttle" the back speakers which is fine for normal vehicles but not something you want with the top off.
My advice would be to replace everything stock and short of that, get an amp.

For some reason I thought that the factory speakers were all 2 ohm. You should replace your Head Unit it will make everything way better. I put in this old pioneer that I had in my closet, and it really woke the system up. for the soundbar I used crossfire 6.5 and for sub I used a rockford fosgate p3 12" powered by kicker amp. If you want to see it I did a write up on my sub install.
