ESP/BAS Traction control light
#12
Ask your dealer to replace the clockspring, it is most likley bad. Your Jeep should throw a code every time the esp/bas light goes off. If they take the time to scan it, they will see the code. If no codes are stored then have them turn the wheel back and forth while on the scanner, and it should give inconsistent readings.
I hope this Helps, I lived with the light going off starting at only 800 miles, and it would randomly come on until I brought it in and had the clockspring replaced at 2000 miles.
The good part is they made no excuses, replaced it in a couple of hours, and didn't say anything about my lift, rims, or the 34" tires.

Yep, I had the clockspring replaced a couple weeks ago on mine. I only had 2200 miles on mine and it went off going down the freeway. The light actually went off 2 days later when I was taking it in to the dealer but they found the code and replaced it without question. Nothing since.

Ok check this out the light is still coming on. Its going to the dealer tomarrow, I asked about the clock spring and was told that it has nothing to do with the lights coming on and that chrysler sent a bullitin saying that after market rims are causing this will update when i know more

I just got home from offroading...
and mine has stayed on the whole way home. My steering wheel is off center. What should I do? Take it in or try to straighten the steering wheel myself? Anybody else had it stay on?

I had the same problems mentioned above...ESPBAS light and track control came on while going down the interstate. Dealer said it was a bad Clockspring sensor behind the steering wheel. They replaced it with no probs.

Mine came on (both ESP/BAS and TCS) this weekend when we were driving on I70 after going over Webster Pass and heading to Georgetown, stayed on for the next 2 days until I called the dealership to make an appointment on Tuesday morning. When I put my doors back on and started down my road the lights were off and I could force the TCS to engage (bumpy dirt road FTW).
I'm still a bit freaked out as I was driving around Denver on Monday (lights on) and managed to start a death wobble (so it seems). I was on a highway entrance ramp (from I70 to 470) and hit a small bump and the tires and steering wheel started jerking back and forth and I couldn't stop it until I stopped the car. I've driven this many times without incident.
Anyway, I'm keeping an eye on it...
