Default Easy electrical question

Stupid question about an aux light.

Grounded the black, red to battery through fuse, but no light.

Does the black off the light need to go all the way back to the battery?

no, you just need to attach it to any part of the vehicle that has ground.

Did you remove the paint around the screw?

That's probably the problem there... You'll know if it's a ground if you just take that ground wire and put it directly to the battery negative side.... if the lights work, it's your ground... If they don't, check the fuse, bulbs, wiring.... etc, etc.

Went through all the connections and relized that the more expensive "water tight" connectors were broken in the covers.

Goes to show its easier to check things as you go rather than after your all done and its not working.

Thanks for all the input.
