I can't help but see lots of exposed electrical connections. This might be OK for folks in the dry belt, but for those of us in the rust belt, anyone have knowledge of how well it will hold up? I need a setup like this for K9SAR (i.e. additional radios, fans, fridge/cooler).

Painless wiring

Painless has a dual battery set up for about $150 (cheaper if you search around). My plan is too get this kit and a RR tray. About $250 total for what I've found...

Install Caution w Benchmark setup
Just a quick word of caution for anybody installing the Benchmark dual setup. Make sure you find a way to secure the evap purge solenoid. Mine slipped down (after 2 years w/o issue) and landed on the manifold shield pushing a plug wire against the shield. End result was a dead jeep a bunch of melted plastic and a shot plug wire total loss $300+. Jeep was out of commission for two weeks trying to track down parts to replace the melted plastic tubes etc. Had my fabricator weld a mounting post to the battery tray to avoid a repeat.

Sorry for the hi-jack....but can anyone running the benchmark set-up with the isolator tell me if thier isolator is hot to the touch. I could fry an egg on mine and it's got me a bit freaked.
Thanks Mike

Yes, mine is same, burning hot. I installed the set-up last year, at the time I read somewhere it is normal to be hot so haven't worried about it since.

as fyi for those with Dual Batteries, I wanted a hood lock after the install.
The Rugged Ridge hood lock kit didn't work ($25 wasted) so I ran a steel cable wire through the hood, down and around the chassis rail, clapped the wire ends with cable wire U-clips and locked with small padlock.
Nothing is 100% secure, but this is well worth doing for peace for mind.
