Default Driver side brake light works when it wants to....

My driver side brake light recently stopped working right. The bulb blew and I changed it, about a week later it was out again so I figured it was a bad bulb, I pulled the bulb and it looked fine, so I tried it and it worked. I never changed it and just out it back in and it worked fine for like a month. Now over the past few days it keeps going out but even I pull the bulb it starts worked again. I was thinking it was just a defective bulb, I just changed the bulb and it worked, I reinstalled the light assembly and it don't work again.... Any idea why? Please help I don't want a ticket......

Try some dielectric grease in the taillight plug in and also the bulb plug in. If that dosn't work you will have to start tracking wires looking for cuts in hte insulation.

I have had the same symptoms on mine. It had to do with the bulb not making good contact in the socket.
After a few times of removing and reinstalling the bulb, it started to work fine.

I have also had a bulb work intermittently because the filament was broken, and it would periodically weld itself back together.

That's what the dielectric grease does, helps make better connection.

Never understood that, since a dielectric is an insulator.
I can see it keeping moisture out to prevent corrosion, though.

I thought I had some but I don't. Don't think I need it tho, The bulb fits tight and after playing with it I think the socket itself is bad, the one wire is hanging on by a thread....
