Right. The Stern setup everybody's talkin about replaces the housings as well. Didn't know if you were aware of that. Those Cibie E codes are awesome. I'm glad I got mine cause the supply will run out eventually.

Well I just got off the phone with DS and he said he'd been attending to family concerns. He checked for my order and I wished him well. Seems like he's dealing with some important things.

When I went into a local auto parts store the guys were a little older and they knew about Cibies but thought they weren't available anymore. They seemed to know about DS and said that domestically they didn't know of any other source.

Redneck, are you saying that the factory is no longer producing Cibies? If so, do you have an idea how long before the last of them will run out? I think I remember you used to be in the auto service industry and I assume you might have some inside knowledge.

thanks

I may be wrong, but that's my interpretation. At least for the E code stuff. In fact, I THOUGHT that they had stopped making those long ago and all that is left is it. I can't remember where I heard or read it....and I might be wrong. I sorta hope I am. Try googling Valeo and see what you find. That's the parent company. I think Cibie still makes lamps, but I don't think they make the ones we've been discussing. If they do, don't beat me up over it too bad.

As promised, here's pics of the lights. Low beam and high beam respectively. The pictures really don't do them justice.

Well, DS must be pretty busy, or maybe there is some trouble getting my order filled. I've called and emailed him. He said last week he'd check on my order and reply soonest.

I hope he and his family are okay.

But also, I hope there isn't a problem for him to acquire my requested items. I was going to get the Susquehanna harness from them, but he told me he uses the same builder and it was the same price.

I've heard rumor that this harness builder has recently upgraded the harness and made it even more plug and play. Maybe DS is waiting to get the updated one from them?

Does anyone have info to this rumor?

thanks

I experienced the same MO with DS when I got my lights about a year+ ago. I had issues receiving my order but finally got things happening when I put him to task. I had the same problem with the wiring harness. At the time, he told me that the guy that makes the harness for him also worked for or had just started working for Susquehanna and that he was very busy being a one man show, etc. etc. My wiring harness was actually shipped by Susquehanna with Susquehanna part number. Sorta makes you wonder.

Yup. It's no rumor. I got one of the upgraded harneses. All you have to do is mount the relays, route the wiring, connect the hot and ground, plug in the harness to the passenger side headlight plug and plug in the lights. It's really that simple. The problem is not with Mr. Stern. It's with whatever company that supplies the male H13 plug that goes on the harness to plug into the factory headlight plug on the passenger side of the Jeep. There's only ONE company making that plug, so they're hard to come by.

I received my order last night, acouple of weeks later than I'd expected but not a big deal after the way things have been going.

The lights look very nice! But that harness is a beast. I can't imagine a newb making anything as stout as this. And I do t care who made it for DS vs Susquahanna,... I just know I DIDN'T!

I won't have time to install this until the weekend.

Does anyone have a good picture and write up of where the new harness actually plugs into the JK's electrical system (I.e. Not hooking to the battery ;-))? And how it's installed in your engine compartment?

Thanks!

I thought the harness was a good buy for the $87 or whatever I paid for it. It's very well made and insulated, and will supply whatever amount of power you need for stockers, the 85/80 bulbs, or the 130/90, or HIDs.

Might have to try a set of the 130/90 Yellow Star Hella bulbs, they are only $25 a pair, and I like the tint's superior performance in foggy weather. And maybe a matching set of the Osram 55w All Weather bulbs for the 90mm Hella fog lights in the FabFour bumper.
Of course you can also get the Xenon Blue version of these bulbs also, if that's your thing, in 130/90 watt!
A nice thing about the Cibies and the upgraded harness, lots of bulb choices, some at very reasonable prices.
I might have to switch out my KC 8" Rally driving lights for a set of Tango yellow Cibie fog lights. The 130w KC lights are mostly unused with the 85w Cibie/Osram high beams now.
