I hooked up my 8" sub to the tailgate...i liked all these other boxes but i still wanted the option to be able to remove the rear seat without having to disconnect anything. The DVC 8 sounds greta to me and best thing is...you cant see it from the outside. Just a thought for you.

My box doesnt take up any more space than my stock infinity enclosure did, but has just over .5 cubic feet of volume, perfect for my 8" Kicker. Sounds great, and i dont have to remove it to pull the seat out! (Still needs trim pieces for a finished look though lol)

How did you attach the box to tailgate and does is rattle much? I added a 3rd row seat in my unlimited and looking to build a box behind seat attatched to tailgate or under seat in compartment.

I used "L" brackets to attach the box to the tailgate. I also added a piece of double sided tape to the brackets to make sure it absorbed the vibration/rattle. Used self tapping bolts to secure the brackets to the tailgate.

Wink Just installed mine tonight.

I just got done building a custom box for my 2 door JK after doing a lot of research and not finding exactly what I wanted. I decided to go with a down-firing configuration with a Kicker CompVT-10 (low profile, high output). The box height is 7 3/4" and takes up the whole back trunk. I'll put together a write up on it soon:

I liked some of the ideas here, but getting the proper volume (.8 cu ft/ 1383 cu in) was difficult and awkward. I had played with 8" subs without much luck, so I wanted to get a 10" in if I could.

I used Plastidip (3 coats) over primed 3/4" MDF. It's all driven by a Alpine PDX-5.

FWIW, not sure how I feel about the plastidip, but I didn't have any bedliner. I may have to strip this and coat with bedliner instead.

i looked at doing custom work, but in the end i decided that it was just much effort and time. I got a premade box, and just stuck it in the trunk. i have a two door and it hurts, but i can get over it. i mounted the amp under the passenger seat. ill put some pics up soon.
