I built my own sub enclosure - I've been building boxes for years and through trial and error have gotten pretty good at it.
I based my design on the Quadratec enclosure- www .quadratec.com/products/14136_3904.htm
However, after speaking with the box builder who makes these for Quadratec, I wasn't thrilled about the limited depth for the subwoofer, nor was I thrilled with the fact that they used only 1/2" MDF in its construction. 1/2" MDF is just insufficient for high performance systems.
With a few tweaks in the design dimensions, I modified it to accept a single downfiring Kicker Solobaric L7, with appropriate airspace.
I used 1" thick Ultralight MDF in the box construction, which substantially increases the box acoustics and performance - you'll need to source this through a specialty lumberyard or cabinet shop - it can't be found at your local bigbox home center.
Mounted in the amplifier slot to the lower right of the box is a JL Audio HD 750/1 - It is the perfect amp IMO to push the L7 Sub.
Under the box in the storage area is a JL Audio JX360/4 4 channel amplifier, which seats perfectly in the storage area. These 4 channels push my 2 sets of Rainbow Audio's CS 265 X-Plain Pro component system 6.5" speakers in my dash and soundbar.
It was a pricey system and was a time consuming install, but the end result was nothing short of amazing sound - especially for a JK.

Im in the process if building me a box. But I have a 10 inch polk audio sub. And a 1000w audiopipe amp. And multimedia head unit with 7inch touch screen. Has usb, aux, and sd card slot. Plus it plays dvd. And all my 6 1/2 are Sony.
System sounds amazing for how much I have in it.

When you remove the passenger seat, is there anything special you need to do regarding air bag stuff? I'm thinking of mounting my amp here as well, and I just don't want the air bag to go off while I'm removing the seat or break it's functionality for when it's really needed. Is there just a plug or something?

I was wondering the other day can you build one with enough air space that sit flush to the wheel well? I know nothing about subs and boxes but that would be good use of a wasted space. If you wanted two subs you could put one on either side. Make em flush with the rail.
