Default Controling ipod

Isn't possible to control the iPod from the iPod itself and not the radio?

Wouldn't that cause you to have to look down at the iPod with your eyes off the road, thus risking causing injury or possible death to others around you?

My thought as well. If you don't want to use the uconnect setup, just plug into the aux and do whatever off the ipod.

Use the voice controls through the uconnect. They actually work pretty well

What kind of iPod is it? On my iPhone one of the recent updates enabled the ability to control the iPod app while connected to the stereo which is nice.

I heard you can send text messages, read emails and surf the internet also.

Distracted Driving | Facts and Stats | Texting and Driving
18% of injury crashes in 2010 were reported as distraction-affected crashes.

11% of all drivers under the age of 20 involved in fatal crashes were reported as distracted at the time of the crash. This age group has the largest proportion of drivers who were distracted.

40% of all American teens say they have been in a car when the driver used a cell phone in a way that put people in danger.

Drivers who use hand-held devices are 4 times more likely to get into crashes serious enough to injure themselves.

Text messaging creates a crash risk 23 times worse than driving while not distracted.

Sending or receiving a text takes a driver's eyes from the road for an average of 4.6 seconds, the equivalent-at 55 mph-of driving the length of an entire football field, blind.

Driving while using a cell phone reduces the amount of brain activity associated with driving by 37%.

Cell Phone Accident Statistics and Texting While Driving Facts
Texting While Driving Statistics

About 6,000 deaths and a half a million injuries are caused by distracted drivers every year.
While teenagers are texting, they spend about 10 percent of the time outside the driving lane they’re supposed to be in.
Talking on a cell phone while driving can make a young driver’s reaction time as slow as that of a 70-year-old.
Answering a text takes away your attention for about five seconds. That is enough time to travel the length of a football field.

The best way to end distracted driving is to educate all Americans about the danger it poses.

I'm also a habitual user of Bluetooth phone in the car/Jeep, I don't hold a phone and drive.

I don't make distracted driving a habit, and in fact I'm in favor of hands free and no texting laws based on what I see around me in my daily Northern Virginia commute. At east once a week I get held up by or almost run over by someone who's too busy dialing, talking, or texting rather than driving.
