Default Computer went bezerk

So I was cruising down the freeway last week on my way backpacking to the Uintah's when all of the idiot lights on the dash start lighting up and or blinking. At the same time the bell starts dinging and the rpm gage starts flickering every time the bell goes off. I of course think WTF and pull over. Check my oil since the oil light was on. Everything looks fine and the Jeep is running like nothing is happening. I disconnect the battery and reconnect it and it still is doing it. I go to start it and it takes a few tries but still starts. I go camping and then drive home like that...I tell you that warning bell going off constantly for 3 hours is enough to put anyone in the funny farm. So I take it into the local dealer rather than driving an hour to the good dealer I bought it from and they call back today and say..."You have 11 computers shutting off and on every second. We think it is because of your accessories so we aren't going to do anything about it". I was polite at this point and asked why they thought it was my accessories that have been installed for over 3000 miles suddenly making the computers freak out. Their answer..."Uh...I'm not...the tech...uh...we just think it is". I politely say. So if I pull out my two accessories (extra cigarette lighter and locker mod) and it still does it does that mean then you'll fix it under warranty? He says "Well that would be totally a gray area, I would have to talk to my supervisor". So I'm going to pick it up and take it to the good dealer an hour away.

Anyone else have this happen? Like I said the Jeep runs fine.

I would suspect it is probably the 37" tires that are doing it

/sarcasm

In all seriousness, there are some really shitty dealers out there.

Moral of the story? Go the extra miles to the good dealer. I drive 20 some miles to my dealer instead of five miles to a local dealer that has a bad reputation.

sounds like my dealer. Driveline vibs, we caused by a loose bolt from the aftermarket suspension. I was even charged $72.00 to say they would'nt fix it.

it wasnt the CV join that exploded.

I just got back from dropping it off. I told the dealer what the other one had said and he asked me what acc. I had installed. After I listed them he told me that there is no way that any of them could effect the modules that are compromised. He told me that they were swamped so it would be a couple of days before he could look at it but that they would find and fix the problem. I'll post up once I find out what it was.

Next thing you're going to tell me the grab handles void the warranty on the roll bars "Extra stress from your fat ass pulling on the handle caused the failure, sir."

Default Dealers "WE'RE ALL SUCKERS"

Jeep dealers are there for one reason.

TO DRINK RED BULLS ALL DAY AND SELL JEEPS THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.
I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHO'S FAULT THIS IS. BECAUSE JEEP DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE AT ALL IF YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT, THEY JUST SAY GO TO YOUR LOVELY "FIVE STAR DEALER" OR PASS THE COMPLAINT DOWN THE LINE AND OR SEND YOU A BULLSHIT FORM LETTER.

WHAT MAKES A FIVE STAR DEALER A "FIVE STAR DEALER"? IS IT THE CUSTOMERS? IS IT THE NUMBER OF SALES A DEALER HAS? CAN THE DEALER JUST BUY THAT VERY "MEANINGFUL"LABEL? OR IS IT JUST AS MEANINGFUL AS THE STUPID "TRAILRATED" LOGO THATS ON THE SIDE OF ALL OUR JEEPS? I HAVE NEVER MET ONE PERSON THAT HAS EVER COME UP TO ME AT ONE OF THESE PLACES THAT SAY THEY'RE HAPPY. AND WE ARE ALL SUCKERS FOR BEING THE SUCKERS WE ARE.

they care nothing about the customer, we are just a number.
I have been to I think 12 different dealers all over NC and IN and I
have yet to find one that treats me like a person. Except
a lady manager at the Cary dealership.

They refuse to give you a loaner when your Jeep is getting fixed. They refuse to show you anything i.e. a helpful tip on maintance. They won't even let you in the maintance area. It's the bottom line. MONEY MONEY MONEY.

Heaven forbid they actually do ANYTHING to make a repeat customer
smile.

In closing. I work on computers and the last thing I want is for some jackass to hover over me when I'm working on a computer asking me questions. But that is what I want and expected from buying a 30 thousand dollar Rubicon. For the dealer/maintance people to be excited and happy about having the opportunity to work on a new flagship JEEP vehicle that is being used for what its designed for (minus the bullshit plastic everything) by a customer that is enthusiastic about JEEP's product. They don't want people watching what the mechanics are doing because the mechanics don't know what the HELL their doing. Case in point with all these computer problems.

Nick
